Augie W. Saxe Jr.
DECEMBER 23, 1929 – FEBRUARY 10, 2021

Augie W. Saxe Jr. ,91, passed from this life on Feb 10, 2021. He was born December 23, 1929 to parents Pat and Augie Saxe Sr. He was a longtime resident of Houston.

Augie was raised in Beaumont Texas and attended South Park High School. He excelled in sports, lettering in football, basketball, baseball and track. In 1947 he was named Southeast Texas Most Valuable Player in football. He then attended Texas A&M on a football scholarship and was a key contributor on some very good Aggie teams. He lettered in Football from 1949-1951. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree and did architecture projects as he served in the US Air Force until 1957.

Following his discharge from the military he returned to Beaumont to start his professional career with Goleman & Rolf Architects. He transferred to Houston in 1961. He joined Jenkins, Hoff, Oberg and Saxe, and was known primarily for his design of over 100 schools and education buildings around Southeast Texas. He spent the rest of his career in Houston and retired from architecture in 1982.

Augie is preceded in death by his brother Charles Saxe and survived by his sister Donna Stewart. He is survived by his daughters Cyndy Fergus and husband Keith, Stephanie Greaves and husband Troy, and son August ( Sandy ) Saxe and wife Malinn. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A Memorial Gathering and Funeral Service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:30 AM.
