GRANT ARTHUR HOLMES
December 09, 1955 - February 05, 2021
On Friday, February 5, 2021 Grant Holmes, beloved son, father of two, and brother passed away at the age of 65. Grant Arthur Holmes was born December 9, 1955 in Port Arthur, TX to Robert and Suzanne Holmes. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and worked for thirty-five years as an engineer. Grant married Cristy Young on January 10, 1976 and raised two children, Darby Arthur, their son and Bradie Leah, their daughter.
Anyone who met Grant knew what a passion he had for sports. Whether he was playing, watching or even coaching, he loved his sports; and none more so than Aggie football. He absolutely lived and died for the Aggie games each season. Grant also had a love for good music and cooking a delicious home-cooked meal. If you ever met Grant, you knew what beautiful blue eyes, and an infectious smile he had. His ability to make you laugh was a true gift and was so much of his contagious personality. He always wanted nothing more than to make the people he loved and cared for happy. His life was taken far too soon, but he truly lived it to the fullest.
Grant is proceeded in death by his father Robert “Bobby” Holmes. He is survived by his mother Suzanne Hebert Holmes; son Darby '98 and daughter-in-law Becky '93; daughter Bradie and son-in-law Ryland; sisters Bridget and Clara; and a whole crew of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Grant’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, Feb 12, 2021 at Schmidt Funeral Home 1344 Grand Parkway, Katy, TX 77494. There will be a reception immediately following the memorial at a location to be determined.
