G. Stanley Toeppich
June 20, 1933 - February 02, 2021

Stanley Toeppich, 87, went to be with his Lord on February 2, 2021, at his ranch house, surrounded by family.

Stanley was born June 20, 1933 to O.A. and Nell Toeppich in Mason, Texas. He attended Mason schools and graduated from Mason High School in 1951. He then attended Tarlton State College for two years. Stanley then enlisted and spent the next two years in the U.S. Army where he made the All Army Rifle Team, the only non-officer to do so. His ability as a marksman continued his entire life. He even had to learn to shoot left handed due to the loss of his right eye. At the age of 87 he took a great 17 point buck, the largest of his life. Following his time in the Army, he married his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Brandenberger, on November 26, 1955. He then returned to college and finished his degree in agricultural education from Texas A & M College of Texas (now Texas A & M University) at College Station.

Following graduation, Stanley taught Vocational Agriculture for two years in San Saba, Texas and later went to work for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 28 years. Stanley retired to the ranch in Mason County in 1990. He spent the next 30 years improving both the ranches and the quality of his Angus cattle, raising many champion steers and heifers. During his so-called retirement he served on the Soil and Water Conservation Board for 25 years and as Mason County Commissioner, Precinct 3, for 16 years.

Stanley is survived by his wife Carolyn Toeppich of Mason, two sons, S. Scott Toeppich and wife Cathy of Bandera, Bruce Toeppich of Mason, a daughter Caryl Toeppich Johnson and husband Robert of Brownwood, four grandchildren: Steven S. Toeppich of Houston, Stuart Toeppich of New Braunfels, Mary K. Toeppich of Austin, Shelby Johnson of Brownwood and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on saturday, February 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Mason. Interment will follow in the Art west Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mason County Cancer Benefit.

Face coverings are required and social distancing is requested.

He will be greatly missed by family and community.
