Robert Lee Woody
March 4, 1931 – January 27, 2021 (age 89)

Robert Lee Woody passed away at home on January 27, 2021, at the age of 89 with his wife of 67 years, Marcia, at his side. Bob was born at home in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 4, 1931, and his parents were Dr. and Mrs. William A. Woody. Bob grew up on the North Side of Fort Worth. He was a boy scout, attended Boulevard Christian Church, and graduated from North Side High School in 1949 where he was president of the senior class and on the varsity football team.

Bob was in the Class of 1953 at Texas A&M, and he lived in the barracks at the old Easterwood Airport his freshman year. He was a member of the Aggie Corp of Cadets. During Bob’s senior year, he married Marcia King, who also was a graduate of North Side High School. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1955 and entered the U. S. Air Force where he became a B-25 bomber pilot. In his three years of service, Bob toured the State of Texas. His journey began in San Antonio and ended at Randolph Air Base, in Schultz, Texas.

Bob and Marcia returned to Fort Worth, Texas, and Bob entered the printing business. His main hobby, however, was working with the Miss Texas Pageant, where he was the director in 1962, its first year in Fort Worth. He later groomed other winners of the local pageants for the Miss Texas Pageant.

We moved to Dallas in 1970 where Bob ran an apartment management service. He also helped direct various projects in planning their development and hiring of personnel. In 1975 we joined First Baptist Church of Dallas and sat under the teachings of Dr. W. A. Criswell. Later in his career, Bob helped various groups stage national conferences, developed the themes for the meetings, and designed their programs. He also pursued his fascination with space and became involved with the Dallas Astronomical Society.

Bob and Marcia’s only child, Wendy Woody, was born in 1968 and she followed in Bob’s footsteps to become an Aggie, graduating in 1990. We attended as many Aggie football games as possible and never got tired of singing the Aggie War Hymn. The last Aggie football game he watched was the Aggie win in the 2021 Orange Bowl.

In his later years, Bob continued to live an active life, enjoying time outside, whether it be by traveling to the beach, Disney World, or California, or spending afternoons working in his yard. He had an incredible thirst for knowledge and loved the wealth of information that the internet could provide.

Bob was blessed to be able to spend his final days in his home where he enjoyed time with his wife, daughter, fat cat Rocky, and many phone calls with friends and family. He eventually passed away peacefully, sitting in his favorite chair and with his favorite A&M blanket. Gig’em.
