Norman Lorraine Hay, Jr.
April 15, 1932 - January 20, 2021

Norman L. Hay, Jr., 88, passed away January 20, 2021, in Waco, Texas. Services will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

A lifelong Waco resident, Norman was born April 15, 1932, in the old Providence Hospital on Colcord Avenue. He was the only child of Norman Lorraine Hay, Sr., and Adelaide Jacobson Hay. Norman attended Dean Highland Elementary, North Junior High School, and Waco High School before attending Arlington State College (now University of Texas at Arlington) and Texas A&M. Graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, he later obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Baylor University, after being commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Chemical Corps for active and reserve duty..

In 1972, Norman married Louise Sprayberry. Norman and Louise were happily married for 48 years and had one child, Christi. Norman’s wife and family were his priority in life. He was also an accomplished musician. Norman played saxophone in junior high and high school band and many jazz and dance bands. Norman was passionate about flying as well and had many adventures in various aircraft, including his beloved v-tail retractable-gear Bonanza. Norman was a member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church where he served in roles from the church basketball team as a youth to chairman of the Board of Trustees more recently. Norman served on the board of directors at Brazos Higher Education for 21 years.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Norman L. Hay, Sr., and Adelaide Hay of Waco; his uncles, Frank Jacobson and spouse, Josephine, and Morris Jacobson and spouse, Lois.

Survivors include his wife, Louise S. Hay of Waco; daughter, Christina Hay Goldstein and son-in-law, Brandt, of Waco; his granddaughter, Hayley Goldstein and her fiancé, Julian Romo; and grandsons, Hunter and Jacob Goldstein.

Pallbearers will be John Hatchel, John Hawes, Julian Romo, Brandt Goldstein, Hunter Goldstein, and Jacob Goldstein
