Steve was born on July 24, 1949, in Chazy, N.Y., to Lynn and Lucille (Gibbens) Niles. Stephen Roy Niles was

was a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.

After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, he attended Texas A&M University and was the loudest, proudest member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 1971.

Steve led his Aggie basketball team to win the Southwest Conference Championship in 1969 before being drafted to play for the New York Knicks in 1971.

On Feb. 26, 1977, he married Patricia Doiron in Houston. Together they raised two daughters, Rhonda (Kevin) Kalich, and Candace (John) Hollis.

Steve had a passion for all sports, but held a special place in his heart for Aggie Basketball. You can bet that if an Aggie game was on, he was watching it.

He loved the outdoors, golfing with family on the holidays, and spent most of his summers entertaining family and friends on Lake Travis, always serving others and making everyone laugh.

He was also known for his creativity, and many of his paintings and drawings can be found throughout his children’s and grandchildren’s homes.

He and his wife loved traveling together. He loved to be any place with a beach and those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn; his mother, Lucille; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Steve is survived by his wife, Patricia; his brother, Galen; his children, Rhonda and husband, Kevin, and Candace and husband, John; his grandchildren, Brittanie and husband, Brent, Kory and wife, Kristen, Kelsea, Caitlynne, Kasey, and Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Rylee, Charlotte, Blanton, Witten, Connor Caroline, and Leighton; his sister-in-law, Rose and husband, Martin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
