Kenneth Allen Harlan
August 29, 1933 – November 14, 2020

Kenneth passed away on November 14, 2020 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ken is survived by the love of his life, Norma, his wife of 65 years, his daughter, Pamela, his son, Mark and his wife, Stacy, grandsons, Dakota and Garrett and wife, Alli, his sister, Elaine Garner and brother-in-law, Sam, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and nephews Shannon, Michael, and Clay, sister-in-law, Lily Sturm and husband, John, of Houston, and niece, Kaylene Gerber, stepsister, Anise Reynolds of Lubbock and stepbrother, Witt Baynes of Aransas Pass, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Cheston Harlan and his stepfather, Morris Baynes.

Ken attended Reagan High School and graduated from Lamar High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering from Texas A&M University in the class of 1955. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, served in the US Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and with the US Reserves for 7 years. He went to work for Humble Oil and Refinery Company, and retired with ExxonMobil after 36 years of service. He and Norma were active members of Lakewood United Methodist Church for over 40 years. Ken was a founding member of the Northwest Houston Amateur Ham Radio Club and served as the first president.

A private burial service will be held at Klein Memorial Park, 14711 Cypress North Houston Rd., between Huffmeister and Telge Roads. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1330 Louetta Rd., Houston, Texas 77070.
