Dr. Richard Lacy Baker, Jr. September 12, 1934 – September 20, 2020

R.L. was born in Baytown, Texas on September 12, 1934 to Richard Lacy Baker, Sr. and Elizabeth Minnie Helen Wagner. He was raised in Crosby, Texas and graduated from Crosby High School in 1952. After high school, R.L went on to attend The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, later known as Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the Corp of Cadets. While at Texas A&M, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Anne Woodard. He graduated in 1958 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, R.L and Virginia moved to Alvin, Texas where he joined Dr. Beryl Cline at Alvin Animal Clinic. He served the Alvin community for 47 years, first as a livestock practitioner, caring for Alvin's many dairies and cattle ranches, then later as a companion animal veterinarian, caring for household pets. He and Virginia raised three children in Alvin during their 37 year marriage. R.L. was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Alvin, Texas.

R.L. had a passion for hunting, fishing and training bird dogs. He was blessed to share these passions with his friends and family through out the years. He also loved to shoot skeet and sporting clays. He excelled in both sports and achieved many great awards. He was a member of the National Sporting Clays Association's All-Regional and All-State teams for many years.

He married Sue Wilkinson November 1, 2003. They were married for 13 years, until her passing in 2016.

He is preceded in death by his parents and both of his beloved wives.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Walton and her husband, Curtis of Crosby, TX; his sons, David Baker of Giddings, TX and Jeff Baker and wife, Susan, of League City, TX; his daughter, Becky Boultinghouse of Baytown, TX; his grandchildren, Leslie Ivie, Jennifer Pattillo, Melinda Whittom, Dustin Baker, Hayley Boultinghouse, Brooke Gordy and Brittney Hillary. He is also survived by his 12 great-grandchildren, Mason, Reagan and Kendall Ivie, Abbie and Jackson Pattillo, Sydnee and Cameron Simmons, William and Grace Baker, and Luke, Audra and Hannah Hillary.

Funeral Services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home on Monday, September 28, 2020. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00am. The service will start at 10:00 am. The graveside service will follow immediately at Forest Park East Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ForestParkEast-FHC.com
