Robert Earl Evans, 89, of Brenham, TX, died on October 7, 2020.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Prairie Lea Cemetery with Darren Donaldson and Mike Habermehl officiating.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2020 and from 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Bob was born on August 9, 1931 in Houston, TX to Thomas and Susan Ada McDonald Evans. He was baptized in First Baptist Church Heights in Houston, TX. He married his wife, Mahdeem Needham, on September 5, 1952 in Houston, TX.

Bob was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1953 and was a member of the Corp of Cadets. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1954 as a Fixed Wing Aviator, while obtaining the rank of Captain. He served in many churches as Deacon and music director. His love of gospel music was with him throughout his life. He was one of the original founders of American Lighting Standards which is now known as Valmont. He retired from Valmont as Production Manager after many years of service.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mahdeem Evans; son, Robert Earl Evans of San Antonio, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Kay Seeker and husband Ben of Brenham, TX; daughter, Sharon Oprea of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Seeker and fiancé Joel Emerson, Kari Mika Seeker and special friend Greg Koehne, Shelby Colley and husband Justin, Joshua Oprea, Jacob Oprea and wife Melanie , Janna Goshorn and husband Kendall, Jonathan Oprea, Julia Oprea, Jane Gunselman and husband Wesley, and Andy Evans and wife Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Riley Mika, Hayden Mika, Harper Colley, Ryan Colley, Bennett Colley, Dayton Oprea, Ashton Oprea, Aiden Oprea, Austin Oprea, Selah Goshorn, Norah Goshorn, Elly Oprea, and Ivy Evans.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Susan Evans; three brothers, and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to Fellowship Baptist Church of Brenham, TX or Brazos Valley Hospice.

The family would like to thank Brazos Valley Hospice for the excellent care provided to Bob and his family.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
