David Bruce Bonorden
September 18, 1961 - July 01, 2020

David Bruce Bonorden, age 58, of Cedar Park, Texas died on July 1, 2020. He was born in Freeport, Texas on September 18, 1961 and grew up in Lake Jackson. David led his too-short life with kindness, grace, and humility. He was a devoted son, husband, and father, with a great love for his extended family and ranch. He touched countless lives as a fiercely loyal friend, mentor, boss, and volunteer. Few will ever forget his mischievous grin and laugh. David was respected and treasured, generous with his time and always there for important events in others’ lives.

David earned his Bachelors of Science with honors in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, beginning his career as an Air Force officer working as software and flight manager for missile testing. He then worked at AMD as Sr. Development Engineer, and later became VP of an unmanned aerial robotics start-up company. For the next twenty years he had various technical and leadership roles at Dell, including an expat assignment in Singapore.

Pursuing his true lifelong passion to be a pilot, David left Dell in late 2019 to become a First Officer at ExpressJet Airlines. He also volunteered for the past thirteen years with the Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force, most recently serving as Squadron Leader.

David is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tina (Thiringer) Bonorden, daughters Leslie, Natalie, and Kara, his parents Hallie and Tom Bonorden, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur E. & Ella Bonorden and Henry & Winifred Marek.

A small graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, July 15 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Lavaca. For the family’s safety, please consider joining us via Zoom (ID 7734580823, password: Bonorden). We’d love to see you in person at a celebration of David’s life, which will be held at a later date when everyone can come together.

In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force.
