Robin Gay Bolander
March 15, 1966 - May 26, 2020

Robin Bolander left this world to be with our Heavenly Father on May 26, 2020; at the age of 54. She was born Robin Gay Black, on March 15, 1966 to parents Max and Yvonne Black of Midland, Texas.

Robin grew up in Midland with brothers Ronnie and Steve. As a young girl In Midland she spent many hours playing with her lifelong friend Marsha; riding bikes, climbing trees, cooking donuts and participating in Indian Princeses. She was a busy student serving on the President 100 Club, Student Council and an enthusiastic and talented athlete. She was on the swimming and diving teams at Midland High School; graduating in 1984.

She went on to Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas where she played intramural softball and was active in her local church. She graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Shortly after she obtained her CPA. She later graduated with an MBA / Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. She had a long career in Finance and Accounting; having worked at Restland Funeral Home’s Accounting office and then for the last 23 years, First Southwest and Hill Top Securities in Dallas as a Vice President and Controller.

While studying at Texas A&M, she met her husband and the love of her life, Thomas Earl Bolander II. They were married at First Baptist Church of Midland by Dr. Jim Denison on February 10, 1990. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year and during those years Robin and Tom had many adventures together. They loved hiking, camping, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, golf, and most recently, ziplining. For many years they owned and enjoyed motor boats and loved spending weekends on the various Texas lakes. Robin and Tom loved playing board games and working puzzles together. They were avid travelers, and loved taking vacations. Their travels took them to 10 countries as well as many U.S. locations. They bought a small ranch outside Farmersville, TX; worked diligently to develop the land; building a pond on the property while raising and selling cows. Their dogs loved being around the cows grazing the fields; including Robin’s favorite cow, Marie.

Robin was an active member of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where she was an alto voice in the Adult Choir; participating in many performances and activities over the years. Robin and Tom served as Sunday School Directors for a few years as well as being on the Baptism Committee for many years.

Robin is survived by her devoted and loving husband Tom, mother Yvonne Black, brothers Ronnie Black and wife Sharlene; Steve Black and wife Cheryl; along with beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws; and her adoring dogs Tootsie and Deli whom she loved so much. She is preceded in death by her dear father Max Black.
