October 18, 1927 ~ July 7, 2020 (age 92)

Richard Joseph Bowman, 92, an engineer, husband, father and granddad, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020 with his sons by his side.

Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday July 11, 2020, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curt Plaxco officiating. Burial will be at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am Saturday July 11, 2020, at the Lacy Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.Lacyfuneral.com.

He was born on October 18, 1927 to the late Joseph Longneker and Viola Leroy Bowman in San Antonio, Texas. He enrolled in the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas in College Station, Texas on June 6, 1944 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. He served in the U.S Army in World War II and the Korean conflict. He married Margueret Ann Harrison on July 9, 1957, in Mission, Texas. He was a registered Petroleum Engineer in the State of Texas for over 60 years. A member of Wesley United Methodist Church (Nederland, Texas) and First United Methodist Church (Gladewater, Texas).

Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Steven J. and Julie Bowman of Bryan, Texas, Thomas W. and Sherry Bowman of Alvin, Texas, and five grandchildren, Tanner S. Bowman of Kadena AFB, Japan, Sarah Bowman of Alvin, Texas, Michael Bowman of Alvin, Texas, Meagan Stacy and her husband Steven of San Antonio, Texas and Jaclyn Sable and her husband Joe of Boerne, Texas.
