Robert Abbott
December 09, 1946 - July 17, 2020

Robert Abbott, born in West Paterson, New Jersey, on 12-9-1946, went home to be with the Lord and his son, Steve Abbott, on Friday, 7-17-2020.

Bob moved to Houston at just five years old, so he proudly called Houston home. He graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1965. He was an extremely proud and devoted Aggie, having received his Bachelor of Business Degree from Texas A&M, College Station, in 1969. He remained a devoted member of the Century Club as an Aggie alumnus and attended his 50-year class reunion in 2019, along with all his close-knit college buddies in the “F Troop Cavalry.”

Bob had a long career in the paper industry, finishing a successful 30-year career at Clampitt Paper Co, until his retirement in 2005.

Bob made a difference in the people’s lives he touched as a mentor to many and a friend to more. Anyone who knew Bob knew he was a sports fan if there ever was one! Baseball and football were his two passions, but he liked all sports. He will be greatly missed by all his longtime buddies in his fantasy baseball league. He made great memories with his sons at Astros and Texans games, those being some of his happiest times.

Bob’s many friends will surely miss his caring and generous nature and his great sense of humor highlighted by his fantastic, hilarious, spot-on impersonations of Rodney Dangerfield.

Bob is preceded in death by his son, Steve Abbott; his sister, Joanne Peterson; his brother, Gordon Abbott; and his niece, Betty Hamby.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Haddy Abbott; son, Chris Abbott and his wife, Eunice, of San Antonio, TX; daughter-in-law, Sandra Abbott, of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Wanda Zabawa, of Holyoke, MA; nephew, Leon Peterson and his wife, Anne, of The Woodlands, TX; nieces Dawn Abbott-Simons and Michael Ann Abbott of England; niece, Leanne Walker of Andalusia, AL.

Surviving grandchildren include Adam Abbott, Angel Abbott, and Amanda Valdez (Chris and Eunice Abbott); Joshua and Jasmine (Steve and Sandra Abbott). Great-grandchildren include Annalee Valdez, Jacob Valdez, Addy Valdez (Amanda and Joe Valdez). Great nieces include Heather Peterson and Mandy Peterson (Leon and Anne Peterson).

The family will have a private viewing. A celebration of Bob’s life is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, 12-12-2020, his birthday week. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations in Bob’s name be made to the charity of your choice. To sign the online guest book, please visit https://www.kleinfh.com/obits.
