Drexell L. Toombs of Irving, Texas
October 29, 1930 - July 10, 2020

DREXELL L. TOOMBS, 89, a resident of Irving since 1962, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2020 at his home. Born October 29, 1930 in Eden, Texas, he was the son of the late Joe Warlick Toombs and Minnie Lee Cox Toombs. He served in the U S Navy from 1948 until 1952 having been attached to the Aircraft carrier FDR and later the Leyte. He graduated from Texas A & M University in 1956 with a degree in accounting. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement. He married Mary Jane Sutton August 26, 1950 in San Angelo at the First Baptist Church there. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, Irving.

Preceded in death by his parents; only brother Joe Warlick Toombs, Jr.; and grandsons Fran Lee Erck and Shaun Steven Ryan Toombs, he is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Mary; daughters, Beverly J. Karnath of Trophy Club, Terri Taylor, and son David Lyn Toombs of Irving; five grandchildren, April Prince, Joy Lee Cachay, David Lyn Toombs, Jr., Gahlen Dinkle, and Michael Trae Dinkle; eight great grandchildren Dillon Erck, Brooke Prince, Maxx Prince, Lisa Dukes, Will Dukes, Haley Lynn Toombs, Shirley Cachay, and Hugo Cachay.

The family will receive friends 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. Family graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Nolanville, Texas. Gary Sutton will officiate.
