Roll Call Tribute

Raymond Gomez Jr. '61 July 9, 2020 4:40 PM updated: July 23, 2020 3:18 PM

Our family lost its most colorful character to COVID19 today. He lived a life very few actually experience, though many wish they had. He graduated from Texas A&M, received a Masters Degree while in New York City, worked for an international architecture firm and traveled all over the world building projects, was the president of his firm in NYC with his office a few blocks from the World Trade Center where he watched the buildings collapse on 9-11, sold paintings and artwork to many famous people, rubbed shoulders with many rich and famous, designed Mohammed Ali's Library. Among his interesting life experiences was having the distinction of being the only person to ever be asked to leave the Corp of Cadets before his graduation, a story still told in Aggieland (my girls heard it and confessed to being his relative) then returned to A&M a few years ago to be honored as a distinguished graduate. Few lives have been as crazy, accomplished or interesting.

You will be greatly missed Raymond Gomez! Love and God speed!
