WARREN JOHNSON
February 07, 1934 - April 15, 2020

Samuel “Warren” Johnson was born in Beaumont, Texas on February 7, 1934 to Rachel and I.B. Johnson and went to be with his heavenly Father on April 15, 2020 after a short battle with lung disease.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Johnson; four children, Samuel Warren Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Jodi; Cindy Beall and her husband, Buddy; Tim Johnson and his wife, Heather; Carol Reed and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Austin Beall; Eric Beall and his wife, Angelica; Landon Johnson; John Reed; Katelyn Preniczky and her husband, Alex; Shelby Johnson; Amber Johnson; Auburn Johnson; and Leah Jefferson; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to list.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jill, and brother Ben and sister in law Beryl.

After graduating from Texas A & M College in 1956 with a B. S. degree in Industrial Education, Warren joined the U. S. Air Force, served his country in various locations, then spent most of his career working for the DuPont corporation in Beaumont as a Mechanical Engineer, retiring in 1993. He continued working as a mission volunteer, making several trips to Costa Rica, Appalachia, and Jamaica, and working locally on Habitat for Humanity projects, and the Trinity Army making wheelchair ramps to allow people to stay in their homes.

Warren supported many charitable organizations, primarily Some Other Place, The Salvation Army and Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and belonged to Tolerance Lodge #1165 and El Mina Shrine of Southeast Texas. He was an avid fan of the Texas Aggies football team. He has been known to watch a game sitting on the floor and screaming at the TV. He recorded all of their games in his later life and sometimes watched one or two more than once; loved playing games around a big table with his family, digging holes for Pat to plant her flowers, picking their blackberries for Pat to make cobblers, and grapes from their one grape vine so he and Pat could make grape jelly; cruising with members of his A&M 1956 graduating class; and traveling with Pat. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church and he loved their Hamaco Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart seniors get-togethers.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Services for Mr. Johnson are pending under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
