Michael Dennis Walker passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 after a courageous battle against heart disease.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert ‘Mickey’ and Clara Walker, brothers Nelson, Joe and sister Ann Daniel.
Mike was a graduate of Danbury High School and Texas A & M University class of ‘62. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer in Hawaii and Nicosia, Cyprus. After the service, his career had many fulfilling jobs culminating with
his own business centered on helping individuals with their career goals.
Mike’s life was grounded in his Catholic faith and his family. He leaves behind his wife Mary, daughter, Kelly, sons, Doug, Thomas, daughters-in-law Ally and Hailey, grandchildren Zachary, Braden, Holland, Liam, and Hudson, not to mention a multitude of extended
family and friends. Mike was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community, attending daily mass, prayer groups, and other lecture series.
Mike’s grandchildren were the center of his universe, and he would delight in stories and celebrate milestones for all five of them. Granddad was their biggest fan at games, at school, and at life in general. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his sixth
grandchild, making her debut this August. We are certain he will be cheering on her and all the cousins throughout the rest of their lives.
In addition to his faith and family, Mike had a deep love for Texas A&M University, and he took a lot of pride in the legacy of all three of his children following in his footsteps to Aggieland. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and watching any Aggie game,
in person or on TV, held top priority in the Walker household.
If you knew Mike, you know he was a great listener, an amazing counselor, and a loyal friend. He always knew exactly what to say, whether it was sage advice, a witty joke, or some hard truth. If you were seeking his opinion and input, he took that responsibility
very seriously. He would respond thoughtfully and honestly in that moment, and he would follow up proactively after additional deliberations on his own.
To say he will be missed is an understatement. We have all been lucky to know him, to learn from him, and to love him.
