Roll Call Tribute

From his humble beginnings in Shreveport, Louisiana, Ken strove always to better the lives of everyone around him. His life is a testament to the value of hard work, teamwork, faith, and perseverance.

He was born on December 31, 1935 to Margaret Virginia Kitchings and Garland Guy LeSuer. An only child, he lived in a small tin roof home with his parents and grandparents. He seemed destined for a career in the oil industry, following two generations before him.

When Ken was 15, he moved in with his grandparents in New London, Texas. He finished school while working on the pipelines to save enough money to support his education at Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1957. He started what would become a 40-year Halliburton career after graduation, working in all field activities as an engineer-in-training and ultimately ascending to significant leadership roles within the company. During a stint in Singapore, he met the love of his life, Kim-Eng Lim. They married in June 1971.

Upon his retirement, Ken worked in an advisory role with several non- and for-profit companies related to the oil field. In 1998, Texas A&M elected him to the Petroleum Engineering Academy of Distinguished Graduates, and in 1999 he was selected as a recipient of the Dwight Look College of Engineering Outstanding Alumni Honor Award.

Despite his long list of accomplishments, Ken’s focus was always on what he was able to give to others rather than on himself. He was generous with his time, his love, his resources, and his knowledge. His faith in God and love for family and friends always came first. Becoming an elder in the Church of Scotland in Aberdeen was one of the moments of which he was most proud. His contributions to Texas A&M University, Fuller Theological Seminary, and various churches also leave a legacy that serves to educate and develop future generations.
