On Sunday, January 5th 2020, Reynaldo Espinosa Jr, loving husband, father of two children and grandfather to 3, passed away at age 74 in San Antonio, TX.
Reynaldo was born on February 11, 1945 in Tampico, Mexico to Reynaldo & Lucila Barron Espinosa. He was raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas and Brownsville, Tex. where he attended Texas Southmost college. On November 3rd, 1966, he married Elia Micaela Amabilis who predeceased him. He is survived by a son, Reynaldo Espinosa III (Austin, TX), and a daughter, Elia Lucila (Seattle, WA), who gifted him 3 grandchildren, Michelle, Trevor and Elia Graciela. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, Rene Ciro (Boerne, TX.),Roberto Sergio (San Antonio, TX.), Raul Eduardo (wife Penny in Arlington, TX), several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reynaldo enlisted in the United States Air Force, and during his 26 years of service attained the rank of Captain before retiring. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976, and continued to pursue higher education to complete his Master’s degree in the late 1990’s.

Reynaldo had a passion for his duty in the Air Force and was proud to be a part of the Space Shuttle program, as well as multiple other programs for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and in his spare time, dedicated time to one of his favorite hobbies,woodworking. He was an avid bowler, participating in multiple weekly bowling leagues and in dozens of state and national bowling tournaments.

A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Highway in San Antonio, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 pm. A funeral service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 at 9am at Fort Sam Houston's Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach.
