“Hullabaloo, Canek, Canek” is a yell that calls to every Aggie. Mark L. Jackson passed away on February 7, 2020 in Round, Rock, Texas. As soon as he arrived in Heaven, he gave a Gig ‘Em to St. Peter and St. Pete responded with a ‘horns down ‘sign.
Mark was born on October 11, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Hubert Lester Jackson and Beryl Marie Richards Jackson. Family and God were always priorities for Mark.
He entered TAMU in the fall of 1960, obtaining his B.A. in Architecture. Mark was Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1964. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps and earned the rank of Captain. To this we say Semper Fi. Upon completing his service in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, he returned to A&M to earn his M.A. in Architecture. It was during this second tenure at A&M that he met his wife Gloria at an ice cream social. They married on April 10, 1971 in College Station.
Mark spent the latter half of his career working with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) as a Registered Accessibly Specialist (RAS) and was semi-retired at his passing.
Mark belonged to the Williamson County A&M club, Aggie Corp of Cadets Club and Pop-A-Smoke USMC Combat Helicopter Association.
Mark is survived by his wife Gloria, his daughter, Staci Bosson (Brent) of Georgetown, his grandchildren, Grace and Jackson, a sister, Marsha Field (Gary) and brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnny and Suzanne Turner, Brenda and Doug Berndt and Justin Turner as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, J.D. Turner and his mother-in-law, June Turner.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at First Baptist Georgetown, 1333 W. University Ave., Georgetown, Texas 78628 with burial to follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Burns Cemetery in Blue, Texas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Garry Turner, Alan Turner, Woody West, Brad Bates, Brian Ward and Cody Schwertner.
Memorials in his name in lieu of flowers are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
