Logic Tobola II
1940-2016
Logic Tobola II passed into the nearer presence of God on May 21 at the family farm in El Campo, Texas. Logic was born October 17, 1940 in El Campo, Texas to Logic and Tillie Peterka Tobola.
As a practicing architect for over 50 years, Logic lived fully into his creative calling. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture. He was an associate and partner in the firm of Pierce, Goodwin and Alexander for 27 years where he won numerous design awards including John Sealy Hospital and Exxon /Brookhollow. He was the partner in charge for the Marathon Oil Tower and Exxon Chemical Americas.
Logic served as President of the Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and President of the Texas Society of Architects. In 1992 Logic was inducted into the prestigious College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects.
Logic's practice in El Campo for the last 20 years was wide ranging – banks, medical clinics, residences, and historic preservation. His last projects were the designs of a prototype movable church for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Rockport.
Logic was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Barry Guy Tobola.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia. He is also survived by his loving daughters Kimberly Tobola and spouse, Caroline Oeben, and Erin Tobola McMillin and spouse, Toby, and grandchildren, Grady and Tillie.
He is survived by his loving step-sons Tyler Shields and Ben Shields and spouse, Molly, and grandchildren, Colin and Garrett.
The family wishes to thank Carmel Dyer, MD, the other physicians/staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital and the El Campo branch of Houston Hospice.
Logic leaves an extraordinary example of how to love fully, without condition or reservation, as he exhibited his trademark simplicity, unique sense of humor, and almost infinite forgiveness. He ended his life with the peace with which he lived it, grounded in God. Logic was deeply loved and he will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, 6221 Main, Houston, TX 77030 on Friday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Nave with a reception to follow. The Rev. Dub Brooks will be officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church and to Houston Hospice.
