Louis B. Jaska
November 5, 1917 - August 5, 2014

Louis B. Jaska, age 96, of Ross, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 5, 2014 in Waco. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Louis was born November 5, 1917 in Hill County, the son of Joseph C. and Anastasie (Hejl) Jaska. He attended school in Ross and was a 1937 graduate of West High School prior to attending Texas A&M University. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II in New Guinea, where he worked in supply and ran the commissary store. On February 1, 1943 he was united in marriage to Frances Bezdek in West. Frances preceded him in death on April 2, 2008. Louis and his brother, John operated the Ross Cash Store for many years. He also farmed and did custom combining and hay baling until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305. Louis enjoyed farming, working the land and raising cattle. He especially loved spending time with his family, working hard and visiting with all his customers at the store. Louis is also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Frances Jaska; a son-in-law, Larry Richards; brothers, John Jaska, Edward Jaska, Robert Jaska, Ernest "Bobo" Jaska and two infants; and sisters, Agnes Lednicky, Bessie Hlavaty, Mary King and Stasie Janek. Survivors include two sons, Raymond Jaska and wife Theresa and Pat Jaska, all of Ross; four daughters, Barbara Langham and husband Wayne of Austin, Fran Richards of South Padre Island, Helen Boyse and husband Darren of Woodway and Bernadette Jaska of Ross; grandchildren, Jennifer Cooper, Ray Jaska and wife Amanda, John Jaska and wife Jamie, Joe Jaska and wife Becky, Annie, Abby and Nicholas Jaska, Alan Langham, Laura Langham, Trevor Richards and wife Tina, Vanessa Sharp and husband Jeremy, and Alyssa Foitek; great grandchildren, Zane, Reid, Mason, Carter, Connor, Kyle, Ethan, Lola, Gus, Jaxon, Jadyn, Dade and Easton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Kris Cooper. Active pallbearers are Ray Jaska, John Jaska, Joe Jaska, Alan Langham, Trevor Richards, Nicholas Jaska and Jeremy Sharp. Honorary pallbearers are Laura Langham, Alyssa Foitek, Annie Jaska, Abby Jaska, Vanessa Sharp, Tim Jaska, Jim Jaska and Rick Jaska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ross Volunteer Fire Department, Ross, TX 76684. The family wishes to thank Quality Care and Providence Hospice of Waco for the compassionate care they provided.
