Robert Steven McGowen, 80, was born December 19, 1939 to Edward L. and Esther Lil.y (Klatt) McGowen in Houston, Texas.
He resided in Genoa, Texas and attended Genoa Elementary School and South Houston Junior High. The family moved to Greenvine, Texas where he attended school in Burton, Texas until the family moved back to Genoa where he graduated from Pasadena High School in
1958.
He joined the Texas National Guard while attending the University of Houston. He was called to active duty by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. Upon release from the Army he transferred to Texas A&M where he completed his degree in
1964.
He met and married his wife Maria Rosa Aramayo and had two sons. He worked for Lockheed at Johnson Space Cemter in Houston and later as a contractor until he retired.
He and his wife moved to Salta, Argentina in 2003 and remained there until 2011 when they moved to Ajijic, Mexico on the shores of Lake Chapala where they resided until his passing in Houston, Texas on January 14, 2020.
He is survived by his wife, sons Patrick, Mark, grandson Kirby, brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be interred in the family plot in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton, Texas next to his mother.
