Jennie Pennington
1961 - 2019

PENNINGTON, Jennie Virginia "Jennie" Pennington, 58, died at home surrounded by her family on December 22, 2019. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on November 29, 1961, daughter of Harvey and Carolyn Wingo. On June 11, 1983, she married her college sweetheart, Jim, and they had 3 daughters, Lauren (25), Elaine (22) and Kelly (19). Jennie graduated with high honors from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in chemical engineering and then obtained her J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law, graduating first in her class. Jennie had an infectious laugh that brought joy to all those who knew her. She loved the outdoors, cared for the environment and empathized with those less fortunate. She was especially passionate about the injustice inherent in our criminal justice system and racial inequality. Jennie was an incredible wife and mom who loved spending time with her family and left them with many beautiful, funny and unforgettable memories they will always cherish. Her spirit will remain with them forever and for that they are blessed and extremely grateful. Jennie will be missed by her parents, Harvey and Carolyn, husband Jim, daughters Lauren, Elaine and Kelly, brothers, Doug and David, many other family members and a wide network of friends. A service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Ave. in Dallas, on January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to the Innocence Project or Equal Justice Initiative.
