Waterhouse was born in El Paso and spent most of his career as the art director at the El Paso Natural Gas Company while painting in his spare time.
He left the company to fulfill his dream of being a full time artist, and soon was offered a position as the art director at Tony Lama Boots. After his retirement from Tony Lama, he dedicated his life to his painting.
