Orville Lynn Hooks, 72, of Celeste, passed away on July 6, 2019 at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Sherwin officiating. Burial will follow at
Celeste Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Orville was born on December 27, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas to Alfred Columbus “A.C.” Sally Frances Hall Hooks. He married Mary Ann Divin on August 4, 1973 in Hempstead, Texas. He was a proud veteran serving in the United State Army and retired from L-3 as a Stress
Engineer.
Orville is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hooks of Celeste; son, Billy Hooks and wife, Christine of Greenville; and brother, Mike Hooks and wife, Mary of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Jenny Hooks.

Orville passed away on July 6, 2019 at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Texas. He was born on December 27, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas to Alfred C. and Sally Frances Hooks. He married Mary Ann Divin on August 4, 1973 in Hempstead, Texas.
Orville was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. He served with the 101st Airborne Div. during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with "V", and two Army Commendation medals with "V". Upon discharge, he enrolled
in Texas A&M and graduated in 1973 with a BS in Aerospace Engineering. Orville retired from L-3 where he was as a Stress Engineer.
Orville was a devout and passionate Aggie and loved Aggie football. While a student at A&M, he began a 45 year stint as a Texas High School football official.
He is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Jennifer Hooks.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, his son Billy J. Hooks '98 and wife Christine, brother Michael Hooks '70 and wife Mary, and nieces Lorie Vernor and husband Tad, and Sarah Cowgur and husband Rob.
