Alan Clark Norton
March 11, 1928 - September 18, 2019

Alan Clark Norton, 91, of Boerne, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 23 at First United Methodist Church in Boerne at 2:00 pm. The family will receive guests starting at 1:00 and at an informal reception after the service. A private burial will be held later at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Alan was born on March 11, 1928 in Mission, Texas to Clark and Laurel Norton. He was always kind and soft spoken and willing to help others. He was a man of his word. His sense of humor made everyone smile, even in the last few weeks of his life. He loved traveling and had visited most of the National Parks. His favorite past time was reading, especially about history.

He attended Texas A&M until he joined the Marine Corp, serving his country in the Korean War. He was wounded for which he received the Purple Heart. He married Bernell Rossow in 1955 and they enjoyed 64 years of married life.

Alan worked for several small businesses in San Antonio and was an employee at the University of Texas at San Antonio before there was even a permanent campus. He retired from UTSA and he continued to support the Roadrunners until the end of his life.

After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Boerne Public Library and First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bernell, and his daughter Patricia Baumgartner and son in law, Joe Baumgartner, his son Mark Norton and his wife, Rebecca Norton, and grandchildren, Brittany Baumgartner Ehrke and her husband John Ehrke and James Alan Baumgartner. He is also survived by his sister Cleo Lemon and her husband Charles (Chuck) of Uvalde, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, his team of caregivers and the many friends who gave help.

Donations in memory of Alan, can be made to First United Methodist Church of Boerne or Hill Country Memorial Hospice.
