Mark Steven Tolleson
September 4, 1952 - September 11, 2019

Mark Steven Tolleson of Fairview, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving wife singing by his side, on September 11, 2019, at the age of 67. He was born on September 4, 1952 in Celina, Texas to William Franklin Tolleson and Myra Jean Hutson Tolleson. Mark, always being an overachiever, became an Eagle Scout by the age of 12. He was a member of the Celina Bobcat football team and was named Most Valuable Player in 1968 and 1969. Mark was also given the title of Most Handsome by his classmates. He graduated valedictorian from Celina High School in 1970. Mark continued on with his education, graduating from Texas A&M University, Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of ’74. Whoop! He diligently studied, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree the following year, at the age of 22. Mark moved to Dallas to begin his career as a small animal veterinarian and experienced a successful career as he established Dallas Veterinary Clinic, the largest one-man veterinarian practice in the Metroplex. Shortly after moving to Dallas, he met and fell in love with Jana Lynn Sneed. Mark and Jana married on May 27, 1978, and soon had three children, Shane, Shara, and Shawn. Over the years, his family expanded with the additions of grandchildren. Spending time with his grandchildren brought him pure joy, and was most certainly his favorite pastime. Mark was a family man, devoting his time and energy to loving, teaching, and mentoring those he loved most. He was a loyal friend and an involved member of Waterview Church of Christ in Richardson, Texas. Mark enjoyed good company, watching sports, eating good food, playing 42, cracking jokes, and meaningful conversation.

Mark is experiencing new life today because of the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross. He was a faithful steward, a humble servant, and a child of the one and only true God.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jana Tolleson of Fairview, Texas; son, Shane Tolleson and wife, Anna Lee of Southlake, Texas; granddaughters, Zoey and Quinn and grandson, Liam; son, Shawn Tolleson and wife, Lynley of Fairview, Texas; grandsons, Turner and Ames; daughter, Shara Strickland and husband, Dave of Allen, Texas; granddaughter, Andi and grandsons, Eastman and Hogan. He is also survived by his brother, David Tolleson of College Station, Texas; sister, Linda Ridgway and husband, Don of Dallas, Texas; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Myra Jean Tolleson; sisters, Diane Dillard and Karen Lassiter; and grandson, Noah Tolleson.

A funeral service in Mark’s honor will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Waterview Church of Christ, 1409 N. Waterview Drive, Richardson, Texas 75080.
