Jerry Alton Moon Jr.

Jerry Alton Moon, Jr. was born in 1955. He grew up in San Antonio and Tyler, Texas where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and met his wife, Patricia (Pat) Cuca. Jerry went on to Texas A&M University where he received his Bachelors degree in Geology. Jerry's professional career in the oil and gas industry began with 18 years at Union Texas Petroleum, including assignments in London, Karachi, and Jakarta. Jerry Alton Moon, Jr. was born in 1955. He grew up in San Antonio and Tyler, Texas where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and met his wife, Patricia (Pat) Cuca. Jerry went on to Texas A&M University where he received his Bachelors degree in Geology.

Jerry's professional career in the oil and gas industry began with 18 years at Union Texas Petroleum, including assignments in London, Karachi, and Jakarta. During this time, Pat gave birth to their two daughters, Michelle and Erica. After returning to Houston in 1996, Jerry continued a successful career in oil and gas and earned his Masters in Business Administration at the University of Houston in 2001. He retired in 2016 as Vice President of Technical and Business Development at Coastal Energy Company.

Jerry was a loving father and husband. He was heavily involved in Michelle and Erica's academic and extracurricular activities, was instrumental to their University educations, and was an excellent mentor in the early years of their professional careers. Jerry welcomed Jeff Stevens into the family in 2016 when Jeff married Michelle.

Jerry developed lifelong friends through his time at Texas A&M, his career in Houston, his and Pat's travels around the world, and their involvement in the community. His family and friends will dearly miss his steadfast friendship, leadership, generosity, sense of humor, and love of music.

The Moon family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Jerry's many family members, friends, and colleagues for their continuous outpouring of love, support, and encouragement through Jerry's long and courageous battle with heart disease. The family also wishes to acknowledge and express their gratitude to the health care professionals at Baylor St. Lukes's Hospital for their compassionate and encouraging care of Jerry.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Michelle and Erica; son-in-law, Jeff; father, Jerry Moon, Sr.; step-mother, Judy; brother, Tommy; step-brothers, Ricky (Erika) Burkhardt, Brian Burkhardt, and David (Donna) Burkhardt. Jerry is preceded by his mother, Camilla (Kelley) Moon.

A Memorial Service in his honor will be held on August 24 at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, followed by a reception in the Courtyard Room.
