AUGUST 3, 1938 ~ AUGUST 13, 2019 (AGE 81)

Larry Joe Schiflett, 81, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Larry was born August 3, 1938 in Houston, Texas to Bill and Dorothy (Barnhill) Schiflett who preceded him in death. He graduated High School in Denison, Texas and attended Texas A & M, class of 1960, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math.

On September 1, 1960, he married a Hazel Campbell in Denison, Texas. Larry worked as a Geophysicist for States Exploration from 1960 to 1966 until he went to work for Exxon until his retirement in 1996 after 30 years of service.

Larry was an Elder and member of Central Christian Church. He loved to sing with his beautiful Baritone voice and was very involved in his Church. Some of his enjoyments included playing Dominos, Chess, Piano lessons and in his early years, Tennis. After his retirement in 1996, he took up the game of Golf.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sandra McAlister. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Hazel Schiflett of Waco, TX; two daughters, Kathy Schiflett & wife Reinette Jones of Lexington, KY and Rebecca Keller & husband Jerry of Hewitt, TX; son, Patrick Schiflett & wife Christine of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Jason Keller & wife Jessica Nicole, Jessica Marie Luna & husband Donavan, and Jon Schiflett; seven great grandchildren and a host of beloved friends.

Larry leaves behind a great legacy of memories and friendships that will be cherished forever, but most of all, he was a beloved family man who loved his family.
