David Talbot Small
October 29, 1956 - June 18, 2019

David Talbot Small peacefully went home to begin his next amazing adventure on Tuesday morning, June 18, 2019, at the age of 62. He weathered the long and difficult struggles of Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease with courage and hope.

David was born October 29, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas and spent his childhood in Tyler, Texas. He attended Robert E Lee High School during some turbulent times and then continued a family tradition of graduating from his beloved Texas A&M University in 1979 with a business degree.

After college David settled into a career of customer service with TU Electric and later with Water Furnace International, a geothermal heating and cooling company. For excitement and challenge, David enjoyed Toast Masters, singing and acting in musical theater, becoming a hospice volunteer and participating in humanitarian projects like Habitat and Paint The Town Red. But his most fulfilling work was at Northwood Church in Keller, Texas, serving as missions director. This brought him across the globe for Jesus to Vietnam, Mexico, Afghanistan, Nepal and China, to name just a few exciting places.

In 1983, with much persuasion and interference from his sister, Dee, David met and married the love his life, Mary Jo, and soon they had two adorable children, Adelyn Lee and Benjamin David. David's early career with TXU had the family moving all over Texas every couple of years, but North Richland Hills has been home since 1990.

David is preceded in death by his sister, Dee Bailey and father, David Small Jr. The three of them are probably singing together at this very moment!

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Jo; his adored daughter, Adelyn Lee Small; his mama, Jean Small; his sister, Barbara or "Babs" Small; his brother, Franklin Scott Small; his son, Ben; and his beautiful daughter-in-law, Cherish Small and their precious children, Elizabeth and Emery.

David takes nothing with him on this last mission trip but love. First and foremost, he takes love for and from God, his life long Savior, Father and Truest Love. He also carries to heaven the love for and from every person God has put in his path. He knew his destiny was sealed in Heaven, and maybe that is what sustained him all these recent years.

.... but those who hope in the lord will renew their strength; they will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they
will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 410:31
