Judge B. D. (Bill) Moye
December 02, 1929 - July 13, 2019

Honorable Judge B. D. (Bill) Moye passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Nederland, TX to Eustace & Sybil Moye on December 2, 1929. After graduating from Nederland High School at the age of 16, he hitchhiked his way to Texas A&M College and was a member of the Corps of Cadets and lettered in swimming. He was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 1950. After graduation, he met the love of his life, Sally Phillips, while teaching at the Arthur Murray School of Dance in Dallas. They were married in 1953. He received his law degree from the University of Texas where he was also a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

He practiced law in Pittsburg, TX with Hancock & Hancock & later was a partner with Old & Moye in Mt. Pleasant. In 1976, he was elected as District Court Judge of the 76th District of Texas. He retired in 1995. He & Sally traveled extensively during their lives & shared a passion for horse racing, their many great friends & an avid golfer.

He is survived by his daughter Melissa Alcala & husband, Steven; daughter Susy Guest & husband, Greg; grandchildren, Seth Rosewell, Vance Rosewell & wife, Ariel, Jaynee Guest Tyler & husband, Logan, Heath Moye & Colton Guest. Step-grandchildren, Jerad Guest & wife Fair Shae; Colby Guest & wife, Erin & 9 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sally & his son, Darrell Moye.

Visitation is from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home with a private family burial at Allison Cemetery in Warren, TX.

Honorary pallbearers are Bird Old, III, Robert Rolston, Buddy Hatton & Wilburn Gardner.

The family would like to give special thanks to his wonderful caregivers Mary, Frances, Dora, Darnesha, Tiffany, Nancy & Johnny.
