1959 - 2019

WHALEY, Ted Wayne Ted Wayne Whaley made his heavenly transition, peacefully in his home in Heath, Texas in the morning of Friday, July 5, 2019. He fought a 14 month battle with Stage IV Glioblastoma. Ted is survived by his mother, Peggy Smith Whittlesey of Tyler, Texas, the love of his life and wife, Katherine Hilbert-Whaley of Heath, Texas, his two sons Patrick Whaley and wife Marisa Whaley, Jacob Whaley and wife Ashleigh Whaley, his step-sons Steven VanGundy and wife Meredith VanGundy, Kevin VanGundy, and his step-sister, Kristin Whittlesey-Mayo and husband Dan Mayo of Frederick, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his father, John Whaley and his step-father, Forrest Whittlesey. Ted was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Peggy and John on September 4, 1959. They moved to Jasper, Texas when he was young and he graduated from Jasper High School in 1978. As a child he loved sports and was an avid baseball and football player. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction. His working career throughout his life was commercial construction and he ended his career with Novel Builders in Richardson, Texas as VP Operations. Ted loved his family, enjoyed his career, watching football and playing golf. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Lake Pointe Church, 701 E. Interstate 30, Rockwall, Texas in The Bridge Sanctuary. Reception to follow at Rodeo Goat at The Harbor, 2095 Summer Lee Drive, Suite 105, Rockwall, Texas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ted's life. July 17, 2019 is Glioblastoma Awareness Day. Donations can be made in his honor to the Glioblastoma Foundation at www.glioblastomafoundation.org, or to Lake Pointe Church Rockwall Campus at www.lakepointe.org.
