Lester Alan Burris
April 3, 1940 - December 28, 2018

Lester Alan Burris was escorted by Angels to his heavenly home Friday December 28, 2018 at 78 years of age.

Born in Phoenix, AZ, April 3, 1940 to Alan and Dena (Walston) Burris. He was an only child.

He graduated from high school in Liberty,TX. He attended college at Texas A&M where he was in ROTC. He graduated Texas where he received his bachelor’s degree. He received a master’s degree in electrical engineering and Environmental Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He was an Adjunct Professor at Rose State College where he taught Mathematics and Engineering.

Lester was a member of The Bridge Church, Mustang where he served as an usher for decades. He drove a van picking up prisoners, so they could attend church. Lester was involved for many years in travelling with the Men’s Ministry building churches. He travelled in other states as well as other countries. On one mission trip out of the country, while Lester was working on a roof top, one of the men asked Lester if he wanted them to pray for him a wife? Lester responded, “yes I would”. So there on a roof top, they gathered to pray for God to send Lester a Godly wife. Later, after Lester and Elizabeth were married, he shared that story with her!

After retiring from OG&E, he managed rental properties and loved doing much of the work himself.

He is preceded in death by his mother Dena Springs.

Lester is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jean Burris of the home. Daughter Stephanie Hunter and husband David Hunter, Daughter Regina Burris and husband Peter Domahoski, Son Steve Miller and wife Sandy Miller, Son Brett Miller, Grandchildren Liam and Anna Domahoski, Zachary Miller and two Step Grandchildren.

Lester was a devoted husband and father. Lester will always be remembered as a man who loved and wanted to please his Savior, Jesus Christ. His integrity was above reproach. His kindness was part of who he was as a man.

When we think of Lester, we think of him in that awful burgundy jacket, taking up the offering. But we also think of his faithfulness to God’s house and his humbled attitude.

If you knew Lester, you know he really didn’t care if his lawn was manicured or he had the latest designer shoes. His focus was on more important things, like being on a roof top in another country helping the Kingdom of God. That was Lester’s heart and we shall miss that.
