Clifford Whitlock
3/13/1939 - 6/30/2019

Clifford Whitlock, 80, of Alvin, TX went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Clifford was born to Byron and Ruth Whitlock in Junction, TX on March 13, 1939. He was raised along with 11 brothers and sisters in a small, simple home. Graduating Junction High School in 1957, Clifford went on to attend Texas A&M University and graduated in 1962 with a History degree. He then later attended Sam Houston State University, and obtained a Masters in Education Administration. Clifford also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.

Clifford was a loving, devoted family man, survived by his wife of 50 years, Cecilia Whitlock of Alvin, daughters Cindy Whitlock of Livingston, NJ, Sarah Whitlock of Alvin, and son Joshua Whitlock and wife Jill Whitlock of Angleton. He is also survived by sister Janice Ensley and husband Robert Ensley, of Junction. Clifford also leaves loving granddaughter, Kaylea Whitlock.

Over the course of nearly 40 years, Clifford worked for Alvin Independent School District- first as a Texas History teacher at Alvin Jr High School, and then later as Principal of Longfellow Elementary and Harby Jr. High School. Retiring in 2002, he was well known for his advocacy of teachers and love for children. Clifford was also very active in his local church as a song leader and elder on the church board.

When Clifford was not busy working, he enjoyed spending time with family, reading, and watching the beloved Houston Texans and Astros games. In earlier days, he had a love and talent for creating beautiful floral arrangements for beloved friends and family weddings, church services, and other special occasions.

Friends are cordially invited to attend the memorial service with the family on Friday, July 5, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Pastor John Mark Benson officiating.

Condolences may be sent to the Whitlock family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.
