AUGUST 27, 1937 – JUNE 27, 2019

“SOFTLY CALL THE MUSTER”
David Jonathan Bratton, Jr. born August 27, 1937 in Houston passed away peacefully on June 27, 2019 in Dallas. David “Dave” Bratton graduated from Texas A&M College in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, B Infantry, and Fish Drill Team while in college and is renowned for his devotion to Corps Athletics. Dave worked as a Sales Executive for the Rein Company and Duplex Products, and later formed his own company, Bratton Business Products, providing custom business forms. He also proudly worked for Southwest Airlines as a Lost and Found Rep in a post-retirement position.

Dave was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve serving six years as an Infantry Officer after completing training at Fort Benning, GA. He was involved in the Houston A&M Club, serving as President in 1970 and loyally attended the past presidents’ luncheons. Dave was an avid fan of Texas A&M sports and attended many games and campus activities. He supported the President’s Endowed Scholarship Program (PES) each fall and helped new recipients of the George W. Wheeler ‘40 PES and Rebecca Bratton Sul Ross Scholarships. Dave was an active member of the Church of the Holy Communion. An amazing father, husband, brother, grandfather, friend, and storyteller, Dave also had many talents including yoyo trickster, joke teller, accordion player, and trivia expert. As a child, Dave worked for the Duncan Toy Company and was a member of the Roy Rogers Fan Club.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, David Bratton, Sr. and Augusta “Gussie” Bratton and his loving wife of 42 years, Rebecca “Becky” Bratton. Dave is survived by his daughters, Cheri Maschino, Cindy Wright (Ian), Amy Boyce (Bobby) and Alison Bratton (Brenda), all of Dallas, grandchildren, Morgan and Kallie Maschino, Melanie Wright, Dakota White, Cameron and Carson Boyce and his sister Beverly Varnado of Charleston, SC. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Sparkman Funeral Home 1029 S. Greenville Ave. Richardson, TX 75081. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, July 1, 2019 at Church of the Holy Communion with Fr. Canon Charles Camlin officiating 17405 Muirfield Dr. Dallas, TX 75287. Interment will be 1:30pm Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Forest Park Lawndale 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David’s name to the Church of the Holy Communion or a charity of your choice.
