Alan Ray Mitsdarffer of Katy, Texas
October 22, 1954 - April 25, 2019

Alan Ray Mitsdarffer, 64, of Katy, Texas passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 with his wife by his side.

Alan was born October 22, 1954 in Champaign, Illinois to Charles and Maxine Mitsdarffer. He graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1976 where he played collegiate baseball and majored in Geology. He also received a Master's in Geology from Texas A&M University. Alan worked as a Petroleum and Environmental Geologist for 43 years. While working and living in Tyler, Texas he met his future wife, Terrie Boman Mitsdarffer, and on August 21, 1982, they married in Quitman, Texas in the home of Travis and Geneva Boman.

Alan was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, where his favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros. His favorite pastimes included watching old westerns, reading the Sunday comics, quizzing family and friends on obscure trivia, playing card games, going on long road trips, and playing ball with the dogs. He never failed to impart advice and his love of geology on his daughters, who in turn both entered the oil industry. Alan was a true family man; his first thoughts were always of his wife and daughters.

Alan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Terrie; daughters, Kelsey (Joshua) Willoughby and McKensie Mitsdarffer; sister, Susan Underbrink, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maxine. Alan was a loving father, husband, brother, and friend to everyone.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home, 1102 E. Goode Street, Quitman, TX 75783, with funeral services beginning at 10:30 AM. Alan will be laid to rest at Myrtle Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Willoughby, Rick Burks, Ben Burks,
