Joseph Wesley Featherhoff Jr.
Sunday, February 27th, 1927 - Thursday, March 7th, 2019

Joseph Wesley Featherhoff , Jr, 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of March 7, 2019. Known as Jay, Dad, and PawPaw he was loved by all who knew him. He was born February 21, 1927, to Joseph and Mary Featherhoff in Velasco Texas. He attended Velasco High and after graduation went to Texas A&M. During WWII he was going to be drafted and elected to leave college and enlist in the Navy. He served his military career in the South Pacific. After an honorable discharged he returned to A&M and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. He then returned to Brazoria County and began his lifelong career with the Dow Chemical Company. His career took him to Terneuzen, Holland, Belgium, and Ohio. Except for those locations he lived his entire life in Brazoria County. After retirement he spent the rest of his years playing golf and enjoying his grandchildren,

In 1964 he married Mary Charles “Charlie” Coker merging two families. They were married 38 years until her death in 2002. He later married Rebecca Mills. She preceded him in death in 2017.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandson Sam Wigington, and two sisters, Mary Lasseter and Ruth Ernest.

He is survived by his 3 children Ray Featherhoff (Cherri) of Satellite Beach, FL, Jo Beth Featherhoff of Georgetown TX, and Susan Spoor (John) of Angleton, TX. Grandchildren Jeff Spoor (Erin) of Clute, TX James Spoor of Angleton, TX and Jill Carney (Travis) of Colorado Springs, CO. Great grandchildren are Hunter Spoor, Madison Spoor, Mason Spoor, Lorelei Carney and Bradyn Carney, and a special nephew, Tommy Lasseter (Judith) of Galveston, TX.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Palms Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:00 am with the Celebration beginning at 11:00 am.

Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Spoor, James Spoor, Travis Carney, Kim Mobley, and Mary Williams.

The family would like to offer their gratitude to the staff of Revered Texan and IPH nurses who spent many an hour taking care of his needs.
