Romeo Cordero Garcia
April 6, 1943 - April 23, 2019
Romeo “RC” Cordero Garcia, 76, of Castleton, Virginia, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. He was born April 6, 1943 in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico to the late Guadalupe and Serafina Cordero Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Ann; two sons, Eric Andrew and Marc Adrian; three brothers, Alex (Alma), Roy (Yolanda), and George (Shelby), and two grandchildren, Sara Ann Garcia and Sofia Grace Garcia… and a cat, Pretty Girl.
He graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Architecture and a Master’s Degree in City Planning. With a NCARB registration, he worked in many states primarily designing and planning K-12 schools.
“RC” was an active community member in Fairfax, Rappahannock and Culpeper Counties. He served in the Lions Club, Catholic Charities, Knights of Columbus and at Precious Blood Catholic Church. This included being a 4th Degree Knight, Past Grand Knight, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Usher, CCD teacher, Confirmation Preparation Teacher, and Prison Minister.
He was proud to have been saved by Jesus Christ and to serve Him through the Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with a Rosary prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmondson St., Culpeper, VA with Father Kevin Walsh officiating.
Inurnment will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Washington, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
