"I have to believe the greater tragedy here is if you had never had one another." -K.G. S.M.L. - I literally ran into her in the hallway. This was the first time I met my beautiful Vanessa. I was intrigued from the moment I laid eyes. My darling Vanessa, I already miss you so much. You were the love of my life something I will never forget. We created so much beauty together. The most amazing mother in the history of mother-ism! I'm so sorry I did not have enough time to make all of your dreams happen, although we shared so many wonderful memories. I smile every day knowing that you're up there watching me and the boys. I sure hope they serve beignets up there or there will be hell to pay! There will always be a reserved seat at Cafe Du Monde. J.V.S. - All of you know my mom as Vanessa Lee Vance, a lawyer, business woman, and friend. She would've done anything for any of us if it was in her power. She was always there for me, no matter the time or place. Even if I had done something wrong she was still there. It was a way she showed her love, by being there, talking to you, and being funny when you needed it. She would do things to try to embarrass me cause she thought it was funny... or as she would say, "just keepin' it real boo!" To me, she was a best friend, and one of the most influential people in my life. She showed power, independence, strength, courage, persistence, and love. She may be one of the most unknown successful women of her time. Yet, she still knew how to be a mom, the best mom I could've ever asked for. It is hard to not have her here physically with us anymore, but I know how she wanted to be honored. She told me to keep my head up and keep pushing forward. It is the only thing we can do. As much as I wish I could hear her voice or see her or hug her again, I know that she is everywhere with me in my mind and heart. Whether I am with my family, or listening to James Taylor, or eating a double doozie... I know she is here watching me and the rest of us. She was my mother and at that she was the best, but she was also my best friend. I love you, always and forever. J.V.L. - Vanessa Vance was the best mom I've ever known. She was fair, kind, honest, trustworthy, and most of all the best mom someone could wish for. She was there when I was hurt and needed healing and although she wasn't there for a bit because of breast cancer, I will always know she loved me with all her heart and will always be watching over me in sickness and health and she will always in my heart be the best mom ever! My best friend, my partner, mom of the century "Kind, compassionate, soulful, breezy, intuitive, intriguing, brilliant, just plain Vanessa" -S.L.
