Mack Cook McCullin
September 11, 1937 – January 1, 2019

Graveside service for Mr. Mack Cook McCullin 81, of West Monroe, LA will be held Saturday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00pm at Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Spearsville, LA. Interment will follow at Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral home.

Mack was born September 11, 1937 in Ruston, LA, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 after a long battle with prostate cancer.

He was the only son of Wallis and Marjorie (Cook) McCullin. He met his dear wife, Rebecca Upshaw, at church while both were attending LA Tech and married on September 10, 1957. This was always an ongoing joke in our family that he had married an older woman because she was one day older. They married on her 20th birthday and he would not turn 20 until the following day. Together they moved to Bryan, Texas where he later graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1961. He spent most of his career working for the USDA caring for large animals and enjoying the relationships he had with the farmers and ranchers of rural Louisiana. He often said how much he loved that most of his work life was spent outdoors. In his later life, he enjoyed taking drives down the backroads and reminiscing.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Rebecca (Upshaw) McCullin; son, Cregg (Shelley) McCullin; daughter, Julie (Mark) Walden; and his only grandson, Jordan Walden who was his pride and joy.

The family would like to thank the staff of Savannah Court Grand Assisted Living Facility and La Hospice and Palliative Care and those that helped care for our beloved father. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.org), the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), or the charity of your choice.
