Robert K Barton (Bob) ’84 passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his home in Westminster, CO surrounded by his family. He was 62.

He was born September 12, 1956 to parents Jo Ann (Wellmann) & Lowell Barton, Sr in Portsmouth, Ohio. After Robert graduated from Warrenton, Missouri High School in 1974, he proudly served his country by joining the Air Force. He completed training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas and was assigned to a post in Torrejón, Spain near Madrid to support the Military AUTOVON network. Upon returning to the States, he attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, specializing in Telecommunications.

After college, Bob met the love of his life, Louise, and was married 32 wonderful years, raising two amazing children, Allison and Casey who share their parents’ sense of adventure and travel. During Bob’s career of over 40 years, he worked for McDonnell Douglas Corp., IBM Corp., AT&T Services Inc., and Level 3 Communications.

In his spare time, he enjoyed being a private pilot, driving fast cars, and riding his motorcycle (including several cross country trips). He had a passion for music of all kinds and going to concerts. He ran Cross Country in High School, played chess, golf and softball, watched NASCAR racing and football, built models, and was a lifelong photography enthusiast. He was an avid traveler, visiting many places like Canada, Maine, Alaska, Spain, Hawaii, Thailand, and Italy. He had many great stories about these places and took his family all around the United States and abroad. He will be remembered as someone who loved to help others and loved to study everything.

He is survived by his wife, Louise (Earle) ‘86, daughter Allison Barton ‘10; son Casey (Teresa) Barton; grandson Kekoa; brothers Lowell Jr. (Sarah) Barton, Anthony (Jill) Barton, Kelvin (Carmen) Barton; sisters Jennifer (John) Barton-Blandina, Holly (Justin) Barton-Denig; Mother-in-law, Jintana Barton, sister-in-laws Mary (John) Downing, Margaret Earle ’80, brothers-in-laws Robert Earle, John ‘85 (Cindy Hengst ‘88) Earle, 16 nieces & nephews, and 9 great nephews and nieces.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Kenneth C Barton, Joseph and Lyndall (Burchett) Wellmann and he is joined by his Grandmother Betty (Long) Barton who passed away in January 2019 at age 100.

The Barton family will cherish the memory of Robert with all the love that their hearts can hold. A private celebration of life to honor him will take place on March 30, 2019.
