Charles E. Gallaway
February 19, 1921 - December 27, 2018

Charles E. Gallaway, 97, of Olton, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, in Olton. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 31, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton with Father Sylvester DSouza officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 30, 2018.

Charles Eugene Gallaway was born February 19, 1921, in Alhambra, California, to George and Cloa (Erb) Gallaway. He graduated from Olton High School in 1939 and attended Tarleton State University. Charles served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. Upon his retirement from the military, Charles attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1947. On August 21, 1949, he married Eloise Langley in Plainview. Charles was a longtime farmer and thoroughly enjoyed working the land. He was named Olton's Sandhills Parade Marshall in 2009 and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. A lifelong learner, Charles loved to read, travel, and square dance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Gallaway, in 2014, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his sons, James Gallaway and his wife Connie of Olton and Ken Gallaway and his wife Misti of Olton, and two daughters, Barbara Tollett and her husband Art of Fritch and Margaret "Sunny" Parker and her husband Stan of Plainview. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Olton Cemetery Association P.O. Box 1055 Olton, Texas 79064 or Friends of the Olton Library P.O. Box 675 Olton, Texas 79064.
