Dr. Clarence Edward "Buck" Jones(1929 - 2018)
JONES, Dr. Clarence Edward "Buck" Dr. Clarence Edward "Buck" Jones peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Buck was born to R.C. "Dick" and Gertrude (Weese) Jones in South Charleston, West Virginia on August 2, 1929. Spending summers on his beloved granddad Jones' farm, surrounded by animals, Buck knew by the age of 14 he was called to become a veterinarian. In 1939 dad and his family moved to Texas City, TX where his dad took a job with Union Carbide. In 1947 Buck entered Texas A&M University and worked his way up to become a commander in the Corps of Cadets. He graduated early with honors and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1952. Buck returned to Texas City where he worked in a veterinary clinic and met the love of his life, Anna Marjorie Ansley, when she brought her Pekingese puppy in for a checkup. After their marriage in 1953, Buck was called up by the United States Air Force where he served with distinction for two years, retiring as a Captain. Buck and Margie were married for 58 years and along the way had three children: John, JoAnne and Sara. Buck worked for 15 years at Loop 12 Animal Clinic. In 1972 he opened his own practice creating Lake Highlands Animal Clinic where he became a beloved veterinarian and friend to many in the community. Over the years, Buck cared for thousands of dogs, cats, cows and horses as well as their owners! At the age of 80, he sold his practice in 2010 so he could take care of his wife in the months before her passing from Leukemia in 2011. Buck was a great dad. But he was an even better grandpa. He loved and doted on his grandchildren: Ansley, Austin and Kelsey Miller and the youngest Scarlett George. He was ecstatic over the birth of his great granddaughters, now 17 month old twins Avery and Emery Benson and joyfully played with them at every opportunity. Throughout his life, Buck was a devout Christian, always active in his church, who not only talked the talk but walked the walk. Buck Jones is survived by his sister Carol Lea Jones, his three children, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sons in law Craig Miller and David George, and daughter in law Lisa Jones. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm this Saturday December 22 at Central Lutheran Church, 1000 Easton Rd, Dallas 75218. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
