James "Jim" Wasson
July 22, 1938 - November 7, 2018

James “Jim” Wasson was born July 22, 1938 to Frank Wasson and Marie Wasson in Beaumont. Jim was active in sports (football) and boy scouts growing up, graduating from French High School in 1956. Jim went on to Texas A&M University for college and was in the “Corps”, graduating in 1960 and law school after at Lamar University. Jim worked for Ashland Oil in Kentucky and Houston and additionally Bectel Corporation in Richland, Washington. Jim went on to work writing subcontracts for Rockwell International in Clear Lake, Texas until he retired in 1994 and moved to Kerrville with his wife of 23 years.
Jim was married to Melinda McCreary in 1971 in Houston. They were avid bicyclists and waited to have children, so they could travel the world on their bicycles. Jim and Melinda’s trips included all over the United States, Canada and Europe. James Douglas Wasson II, their only child, was born on August 09, 1976.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, Frank and Marie.
Jim is survived by his wife and son as well as his sister, Marie Wasson and brother in law, Doss Brookshier and their children.

Jim enjoyed riding bicycles up until recently when his health declined, as well as RV and other trips with Melinda around the USA. Jim and Melinda continued to travel extensively abroad on cruise trips to Europe and the Middle East until recent years when Jim’s health declined. Jim had many long-time friends and was always known as a kind, pleasant, faithful and focused man on his family.

A small family commemoration will take place on Nov. 24, 2018 at Garden of Memories on Highway 16 North in Kerrville. Per Jim’s wishes, his ashes will be with his mother Marie’s ashes at their eternal resting place at Garden of Memories.
