Samuel W. "Billy Sam" Allen, Jr.
1924 - 2018

Samuel William “Billy Sam” Allen, Jr. , age 94, of Clarksville, passed away, Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mr. Allen was the owner of Allen Lumber Company in Clarksville, working in the family business since 1949. Billy Sam was born in Clarksville to Samuel William and Mary Ruth Summers Allen, Sr. He was very active in his hometown affairs. He served as President of the Red River County AIA Fair Board. He was a recipient of Red River County’s Chamber of Commerce, George Sunkel Award and awarded the Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellow. Billy Sam served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and when he returned to Red River County he taught the U.S. Army G.I. Schools in Red River County. He was a 1945 graduate of Texas A&M and enjoyed spending time on his ranch in the Madras Community. Billy Sam had two loves in his life, his wife, Aline and his bird dogs! He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Allen; and his daughter, Dianne Allen.



Graveside services with full Military Honors are set for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Madras Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Colgrove and Jack Holt officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.



Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Laymen’s Sunday School Class.



The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.



Survivors include his son, Paul Allen and wife, Mickey of Clarksville; grandchildren, Lee Cross and wife, Meagan of Clarksville, Allen Cross and wife, Carol of Maud, and Abbi Allen of Clarksville; great grandchildren, Samuel Cross and Parker Mauldin.



In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Red River County’s AIA Association, 200 N. Walnut, Clarksville, Texas 75426.
