Robbie Don Godwin
July 24, 1939 - November 11, 2018

Robbie Don Godwin of Johnson City, TX passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Austin, TX. Rob was born July 24, 1939 in Levelland, TX to Robbie Harold Godwin and Juanita (Talley) Godwin. Robbie was a great father, great husband, and loved his family more than anything. And they loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann (Cooper) Godwin; two sons, John Scott Godwin and wife Jennifer, and Brian Frank Godwin and wife Romy; one brother, John Clark Godwin; five grandchildren, Jessica Godwin Seifert, Mary Godwin, Josh Godwin, Kayla Godwin, and Jaclyn Godwin; and one great grandson, Silas Seifert.

After graduating from Texas A&M, Rob served in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Knox and Ft. Bragg before returning to Texas for good. Rob worked in advertising in Houston for many years, specializing in oil field production services. He was a charter member of the Inwood Dads’ Club, and served as an elder at St. Giles Presbyterian Church. After moving to the Hill Country, Rob and Ann owned and operated Trendsetters print shop in Dripping Springs, and rejoiced in their grandchildren. Rob remained very involved in the community, contributing his infectious smile and amazing work ethic to many groups – he was a lay leader at Dripping Springs United Methodist Church, former president of the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce, an active Lions Club member, trained Stephen minister, Trustee Chair at the Johnson City First United Methodist Church, and president of the Hill Country Road Runners camping group. Rob did not get bored.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Johnson City, 105 N. LBJ, Johnson City, TX 78636. Interment will be held at 3:30 PM that afternoon in College Station Memorial Cemetery located at 3800 Raymond Stotzer Pkwy, College Station, TX 77845.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163, or to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 207, Johnson City, TX 78636.

After completing graduate school, Rob served at Ft. Knox and Ft. Bragg where he was a member of the Psychological Warfare group. Returning to Texas in 1964, he was an Advertising Executive in Houston (primarily in the oil field production service field) for thirty years before retiring to the Texas Hill Country in Wimberley, and then Johnson City.

He was an Elder at St. Giles Presbyterian Church when in Houston and a Charter Member of the Inwood Dad’s Club. After moving to the Hill Country, Rob served as Lay Leader of Dripping Springs Methodist Church and President of the D. S. Chamber of Commerce. He was active in Lions Clubs, the Stephen Ministry, Emmaus; Chair of the Trustees at Johnson City UMC and was currently president of the Hill Country Road Runners RV group. He liked staying involved and busy! He and Ann made several international trips and loved learning about new cultures.

Survived by Ann (Cooper) Godwin, wife of 58 years; sons J. Scott Godwin, ’85; Brian F. Godwin, ’89; grandchildren: Jaclyn Godwin, Jessica Godwin Seifert, ’13, Mary A. Godwin, ’16, Joshua T. Godwin, ’16, Kayla E. Godwin, ’19. He claimed he and Ann started an Aggie Dynasty!

Rob passed away November 11, 2018 and was interred November 15, 2018 in the College Station Memorial Cemetery.
