Nacogdoches - Betsy Blackmon Smith, 77, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Friday, October 19th in Tyler,Tx. She was born on August 8th, 1941 in Monroe, LA, the daughter of Paul Edward Blackmon and Billie Blackmon. Betsy was a graduate of Neville High School, held a BS from SMU, a Masters from the University of Kansas, and a PhD from Texas A&M University.
She is survived by her sister Beverly Guthrie (Phil) of Dallas, Tx, daughters Tiffany Smith and Truly Carmichael, grandson Zachary, many nieces and nephews, and her cat Rosie.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Thursday, October 25th at Austin Heights Baptist Church in Nacogdoches,Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Native Plant Society of Texas or the Hospice of East Texas.
