Bobby Wilson Gilpin
AUGUST 2, 1940 – OCTOBER 6, 2018

Bobby Wilson Gilpin, 78, of Dallas, Texas left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on October 6th, 2018 at his home in Dallas after a final battle with cancer.
Born August 2nd 1940 in Teague, Texas to Fay and Woodrow Gilpin, he is a true son of the state. His Texas roots begin with settlers in the 1820s, and trace through the rich history of The Republic of Texas and its subsequent statehood. His early years were marked by life in several small towns in Texas and Oklahoma as the family moved around to follow the oil boom. After graduating from Corsicana High School in 1958, Bobby attended The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, now known as Texas A&M University. Upon his graduation in 1962 as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, he began his career with LTV Electronics in Garland. Over the subsequent decades, while the company’s name and ownership would change, becoming E-Systems, Raytheon E-Systems, and finally Raytheon, Bobby worked within the same organization for his entire career.

It was at LTV that he met Gloria Cope, with whom he was united in holy matrimony on June 11, 1966. Their union was blessed with two children; Wesley in 1971, and Katherine in 1974.

After retirement from Raytheon, Bobby attended Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 2006 as a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. It was here that he fell in love with God’s Word, igniting his passion for knowing God, and making Him known. While always a servant of The Lord, this new passion would drive him the remainder of his days, through physical and emotional trials, to share the glory of God and the promise of the Gospel with all he met.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronny Woodrow Gilpin, Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Gloria Gilpin, his children Wesley (Ansley) Gilpin, Katherine (Sam) Renz, and grandchildren Anna and Adalind Gilpin.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation, in memory of Bobby, to Dallas Theological Society Dallas Theological Seminary 3909 Swiss Ave Dallas, Texas 75204
