William Edward Armstrong
February 21, 1943 - September 15, 2018
William (Bill) Edward Armstrong, 75, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, September 15, 2018, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas, to Wayne Joseph Armstrong and Nell Ducroz Armstrong on February 21, 1943. He married Cheryl Lynn Perry on July, 21, 1968.
He graduated from Reagan High School and from Texas A & M University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 as a company commander at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He then began a 37 year career with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, first at the Matador Wildlife Management Area in Paducah, Texas, and then at the Kerr Wildlife Management Area in Hunt, Texas, where he conducted research on deer/cattle systems, and controlled burning for grazing control. He has received numerous awards for wildlife and range conservation, education, and land management practices. After retiring in 2005, he has continued to help ranchers in Texas count and develop their whitetail deer herds, as well as teaching and leading many controlled burns throughout the state.
He is survived by wife, Cheryl of Kerrville; son, Joe Armstrong and wife Kelly of Georgetown, Texas; son, Jeff Armstrong and wife Wendy of Gatesville, Texas; daughter, Christy and husband Geoff Gough of New Braunfels, Texas; and ten grandchildren: Bailee, Payton, and Jack William Armstrong; Keilah, Kenzie, and Jake Armstrong; and, Chrisanna, Vivian, Naomi, and William Gough. He has one brother, Terry Armstrong and wife, Ann, of Georgetown, Texas; one sister, Nan Kennedy and husband, Jarrett, of Huntsville, Texas; one brother-in-law, Don Perry and wife, Margaret, of McMahan, Texas; three nieces, five nephews, and 10 great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kerr Wildlife Management Area with the Reverend John Standridge of Christ Church Presbyterian presiding.
In lieu of flowers, family requests you give an honor gift to St Judes Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
